Dear athletes and families,

As we return to school, whether in class or virtual, I wanted to take a moment to let you all know that each of our Junior Premier Sports families are in my thoughts and prayers. The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted us all, but I am especially concerned for our youth! As a father, I have seen how the lockdowns, school cancelations, and lack of social interaction have impacted my daughter.  Sadly, the impacts on the children are mostly silent, not easily identified, and difficult to quantify. My prayer is that in the coming weeks we will see a safe return to schooling, a continued decline in infection rates in the Miami-Dade community, and a return to a sense of “normalcy” for our children. 🙏🏻

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to grip our community, our participating schools in the Junior  Premier Sports league have made the decision to delay the start of afterschool enrichment programs to start the school year. The duration of this delay is different for each participating school, so for exact details I encourage you to contact your athletic director at the school. Contingent upon the status of the COVID-19 pandemic, and recommendations of state and local health authorities, Junior Premier Sports will operate a fall season, with practices beginning at the conclusion of the first 9 week grading period (between October 12 and October 26, pending the start date for your school). The season would conclude prior to Christmas break, and there would be no games over the Thanksgiving holiday. In the event your school WILL NOT offer enrichment activities during the first semester (prior to Christmas break), your student athlete would have the opportunity to participate in this fall season as an individual registrant or a team entry, registering directly with Junior Premier Sports. Additional details on the fall season will be available in the coming weeks, as we see how the return to school and COVID-19 infection rates trend.

Due to the delayed start to the fall season, the winter 2021 season will commence upon return from  Christmas break. We anticipate that all participating schools will return to their traditional afterschool programming to start the second semester. Practices for the winter season will begin Monday, January 4, with games beginning the weekend of January 22-23.

I look forward to the day when we can all enjoy a morning/afternoon watching our young athletes compete and have fun! Until that time, know that my thoughts and  prayers are with you and your student-athletes,  for continued health and safety.
